When you need help, Veris Heating & Appliance is not there for you.

I have a problem with a tankless water heater manufactured by Bosch.

I went to the Bosch water heater web site to find a qualified service company in my area. I entered my zip code, and it brought up Veris Heating & Appliance, and showed them to be 18.8 miles away. That seems like a reasonable distance to drive for a thousand dollar job that should take about two hours to complete.

So, I called Veris Heating & Appliance, and spoke with the good folks, there. When I told them where the ailing water heater is, I was advised that they (Veris Heating & Appliance) don't go that far. They'll go to downtown Darlington, but "you have to cut it off, somewhere". When I mentioned that the website indicated they are 18 miles away, I was advised that "that's on the map; that's not how the roads go"!

Wait. What? The map is not how the roads go? What, then, is the map? I was too stunned by the stupidity to ask.

I was dumbfounded that the additional two miles, in the same, exact township (remember, we're talking about a town of about 2,700, not New-freakin'-York!), was too much for Veris Heating & Appliance to accommodate.

Can you imagine how terrific business must be for a plumber to turn down a job because it's two miles further away? And, we're talking about a total distance of 24.6 miles, one way. I drive twice that to work, every day, but it is apparent that the service vehicles owned by Veris Heating & Appliance are unable to travel such staggering distances.

Perhaps they use electric vehicles, and their extension cords just aren't that long? Maybe they have old GPS units that don't include maps beyond the immediate 20-mile radius? I can't be sure, because I didn't ask. I was laughing too hard at the ridiculous response received from Veris Heating & Appliance when I suggested they travel almost to OHIO to perform a paying job!

I know, I should have known better than to expect service from a service company. What was I thinking?
